The same unique properties found in Polygon’s PolyLube® composite bushings and bearings are available in thrust washers and linear slide plates to provide self-lubricating linear motion via a composite material solution.
Applications mirror our traditional cylindrical PolyLube bearings – agriculture, construction equipment, material handling, and lift platforms, marine and many other general industrial equipment applications. Highly loaded applications that require self-lubricated materials are excellent opportunities.
The universal call from the equipment market is to eliminate the need for secondary lubrication from both an environmental and labor savings perspective. The PolyLube family of products completely eliminates contamination arising from greased pivot points – most of which typically ends up dripping into the soil or causing safety issues for those working around the equipment.
The labor savings alone are very compelling when contemplating making the switch from any greased system to that of self-lubricated. Today no one wants to deploy unnecessary labor to maintain equipment when technology exists to completely eliminate that requirement. Polygon’s thrust washers and linear slide plates are available in four thicknesses. The thinner options (0.059” or 0.078”) can support a single-faced wear surface, and thicker ones (0.118” or 0.236”) can be either single or double-faced. The linear slide plates are offered in sizes up to 8” in width and 35” in length. Higher volume unique thicknesses and widths can be accommodated upon request.
Secondary features and shapes can easily be fabricated within Polygon’s machining locations via CNC water-jet cutting or machining centers. Polygon offers a vertically integrated approach to composites from design engineering and testing through the material process including full fabrication – a total solutions-based operation.
Reduce Total Cost of Operation (TCO)
When using traditional greased bearings, secondary cost occur such as the machining required in the pin and housing to provide a lubrication path, the lubrication port itself as well as the labor required to make sure these secondary elements work in concert – all of which can be eliminated via the PolyLube family of self-lubricated products. Design engineer can focus their efforts elsewhere in the design phase.
